The gas-powered RAV4 provides up to 30 combined city and highway miles per gallon. In the PHEV, you’ll get the equivalent of 94 combined mpg, and it can travel up to 42 miles on a full battery charge. This model also comes with onboard charging equipment.
Power and Performance
The plug-in powertrain of the RAV4 provides 302 horses while the gas model offers 203 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid RAV4 incorporates standard all-wheel drive while the gas model comes with standard front-wheel or optional all-wheel drive.
The traditional RAV4 has three standard selectable drive modes compared to eight in the base trim of the PHEV. The gas RAV4 can tow up to 1,500 pounds, while the hybrid boasts a zero-to-60 time under 6 seconds.
Interior Features
The PHEV has a standard height-adjustable power liftgate, heated seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control, all optional features in the gas RAV4. Both models offer an available power moonroof, ventilated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, and ambient interior lighting. You’ll also have standard remote keyless entry. The hybrid adds a standard push-button start.
You’ll have spacious seating for five in any version of the RAV4. The hybrid has 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear and just over 63 cubic feet when you fold down the second row. The gas model expands the area to 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row and almost 70 cubic feet with the second row down.
